FIRST TIME CANDIDATE PRE-REQUISITES
In order to qualify to take the CMLA examination, the candidate must be 18 years of age or older, show proof of completion of an accredited Medical Lab Assistant program or show proof of employment performing medical lab assistant procedures under MD supervision in a laboratory.

CMLA (CERTIFIED MEDICAL LAB ASSISTANT) CERTIFICATION RENEWAL
For those candidates who hold an active certification no additional testing is required. Renewal must be submitted prior to certification expiration. If the certification is more than 90 days expired, the candidate must retake the CMLA certification examination.
For all candidates renewing on time, NPCE requires 6 CEUs in CMLA every two years. If the technician has completed CEU courses through their employer or professional association, those credits may be provided to NPCE prior to renewal (attestation form).
6 CEU courses are included with the renewal of the CMLA certification through NPCE at no additional cost and must be completed online prior to receiving their certification for those individuals who have not completed the CEU requirements.

THE PROCESS

Fill out the registration form in its entirety, make sure your name is spelled correctly and you confirm your mailing address for hard copy certificates.

Pay the appropriate fee through our secure payments portal.

You should have two emails now. One labeled “CANVAS Instructions”, that was sent from education@npce.org and the other labeled “CANVAS Course Invitation” was sent from notifications@instructure.com. The last email is the one where you create an account to get started. If you do not see the emails then PLEASE check your spam or junk folder. The “Canvas Instructions” email will contain a step by step video tutorial, which will explain how to create your Canvas Account or access your existing account for returning customers.

Access the study materials at your own pace and review all relevant information to refresh your knowledge for the CET/ECG Certification examination. Take your time to prepare.

The examination consists of multiple choice questions, ensuring your proficiency and knowledge of the specific certification. The exam testing time is 120 minutes and you will have two attempts to pass. If you are required to retake the exam, please contact Customer Support. 280 days are required as a waiting period to retake the exam after two failed attempts. Exams may be taken at proctored facilities, online or within your learning institution.
