At NPCE, phlebotomy certification is much more than a piece of paper. Our goal is to make NPCE certification the most trusted and valued credentials in the phlebotomy industry. When healthcare professionals receive NPCE National Phlebotomy Certification (CPT), employers will know they have completed meaningful and rigorous work, potentially positioning them ahead of others.
By providing excellence in phlebotomy education, certification, and career placement, NPCE seeks to advance laboratory proficiency in our efforts to change the phlebotomy industry and conduct proper health screening procedures and practices. Recent increasing demands for certified phlebotomy technicians, the need for phlebotomy certified technicians has grown by 300% in the last two years, making our mission pivotal by providing the certified workforce that represents a significant part of the US healthcare $2.7 trillion market. A phlebotomist is a critical part of the lab testing industry that directs 70% of US healthcare spend and this represents 13% of US entire GDP. Bottom line. 13 cents of every $1 starts at the point of a needle. The phlebotomy market is enormous and growing, with over a billion venipunctures performed in 2018. That is 3.9 million blood draws per workday - 498 thousand per hour - over 8 thousand a minute - well over 100 every second.

Technically, only four states have level requirements for training and licensure. In states where there are not any state-level licensing requirements, a phlebotomist is required to be certified to practice phlebotomy. Employers only hire phlebotomy technicians with valid phlebotomy certification or phlebotomy state license. There are, however, many medical professionals that have had years of phlebotomy experience that have never passed a phlebotomy certification exam or finished a phlebotomy accredited school. For phlebotomists who have work experience or learned venipunctures on the job but lack documentation, visit our phlebotomy certification renewal page.
NPCE DOES NOT ISSUE PHLEBOTOMY CERTIFICATION IN THE FOLLOWING STATES:
Click on the state to be redirected to the phlebotomy certification registration or phlebotomy certification renewal page. All states will require completion of phlebotomy continuing education credits (CEU's) in order to reinstate or get approved for phlebotomy certification renewal.
